ASC San Diego is BACK!

ASC San Diego is BACK!

February 22, 2020 — This Sunday February 23th, ASC kicks off the 2020 season against AS Los Angeles at Mission Bay Stadium 6 p.m.sharp!  The team has many new faces as well as some old familiar ones. It will be exciting to watch this crew jell together and be the NPSL standouts we are all used to watching season after season.  Don’t miss a minute of the excitement.

And don’t forget our post match celebration at SD TapRoom located at 1269 Garnet in PB.  ASC fans get 10% off their tabs!

After an epic 2019 regular season, San Diego’s team earned their way into the post season and into the playoffs.  They took their grit and heart all the way to the semi-finals of the NPSL where they were matched against the storied New York Cosmos.  This tremendous campaign also earned the team a berth in this year’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open cup. They will play in the first round at 6 p.m.on March 24th at Triton stadium in La Jolla.  It is exceptional for ASC to be chosen to play in this time honored tournament. The team has the chance to possibly earn their way to play through NISA and USL teams to eventually battle Major League Soccer teams on the national stage. If you are unable to make it to the live match ESPN3 will have all the coverage. Find more information here.  It is definitely not to be missed.

A little bitter sweet to start our season… For the past 4 seasons head coach Ziggy Korytoski has been at the helm of ASC San Diego.  He guided and molded teams, leading them to 1 undefeated season, 2 Southwest conference titles, 1 West region title, 2 entries to the U.S. open cup and a trip to the NPSL semifinals last season. But all good things must come to an end.  Our beloved coach has accepted a Leadership position with Antigua GFC in Guatemala!! Come to the match this Sunday and take part as we honor him for all that he has done for ASC! Gates open at 5, kick off is 6 p.m. sharp.

Every season, every home match, ASC San Diego chooses a local charity and donates $1 from every ticket purchased.  It is one of the many ways ASC gives back to the local community. This week’s charity is San Diego Center for Children. Founded in 1887, the San Diego Center for Children is the oldest children’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the region accredited by The Joint Commission for its excellence in quality of care. The Center provides evidence-based therapeutic, educational, foster care and transition age services to children and families struggling with mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. Today, with 8 program sites and community-based services within hundreds of homes and schools across San Diego County, the Center empowers over 1,000 people every day. By purchasing a ticket you become an extension of ASC and a symbol of generosity.  Please check out their page and see all the amazing things they do for San Diego children.
