ASC San Diego is one of only two teams to hand regional leaders FC Golden State a loss in the 2019 regular season. Golden State has been comfortably atop Southwest region during the season but ASC has been in the mix throughout never going lower than 4th position. The point differential to see the postseason had remained razor thin with ASC and Orange County FC jockeying for the opportunity to continue beyond regular season. Breathing down their competitor’s necks all season long, ASC’S grit, determination, and professional attitude paid off and they are ready for the playoff challenge.
FC Golden State spent the 2019 season as an offensive dynamo scoring a massive 67 goals in a mere 18 regular season matches. If Golden State is the offensive model, ASC San Diego is the antidote. The team was able to hold the entire Southwest region to a minuscule 13 goals against – including a whopping ten clean sheets, the most in the conference – in the same 18 regular season matches. These two teams have all the ingredients for an instant classic and a battle for the ages.
