San Diego, CA (April 1, 2017) – The Albion PROS returned to Mission Bay Stadium after two away games in victorious fashion with a 3-1 defeat of Corinthians USA on April 1.

“We had the early goal and control of the game in the first half … Our guys showed some resilience and we did enough to do what we do [best]. It was a good night,” said Head Coach Ziggy Korytoski.

Game four of the NPSL soccer season featured the return of Matt Clare and Luan Oliveira from the San Diego Sockers. Two new players also made an appearance on the pitch, Tyler Allen from Point Loma Nazarene University and Michael Sauers from San Diego State University. All four players made their first start of the season for the PROS.

Oliveira made his presence known quickly with a goal in minute 21 off an assist from Travis Nicklaw. This goal brought the score to 2-0. The first PROS goal came just two minutes earlier as Felipe Liborio found the back of the net after a pass from Frankie Sanfilippo.

Corinthians USA did not press past midfield or move on goal until late. The first and only goal from Corinthians USA came in minute 45 when Guilherme Andrade scored seconds before halftime.

When the second half opened, the PROS scored quickly as Nicklaw broke free from two defenders and found himself in open space in minute 50. A pass from Amani Walker set Nicklaw up for an easy goal. The PROS led 3-1.

Despite a yellow card on Ricky McKenzie in minute 68, the PROS held off Corinthians USA and closed the game with a final score of 3-1.

The PROS named Nicklaw Man of the Match after a dominant performance that included one goal and one assist.

Nicklaw credited the fans for their support during the match. “Playing in front of our fans it’s a great feeling. Just their support keeps us going every game,” Nicklaw said.

Next weekend the PROS are on a bye and they return to NPSL play on April 13 on the road against Temecula FC.
